So a few weeks ago I posted how Miss Collie had suddenly gone backwards, messing in the house, lost all recall, snapping and hiding from us etc. We did a metacam trial in case it was pain. That made no change so I tried a calmer which I think gave her a dodgy tummy.
While considering other ideas/Calmers she slowly started to come around herself.
This is her. Right now. For the first time in about 6/8 weeks, she's heaved a big sigh and got on my lap for a nap. I need a wee! ? but I don't want to break the spell!

We never made it to the vets. I wanted it to be last option once I'd tried all I could think of myself. So I'm still none the wiser. She's still being an absolute cow on our walks though!

She will be 2 the first week of January and I plan on booking her in then to discuss this lack of season in a bit more detail with them and get a good check over. They do try and push spaying/neutering on people and yes I will get her done but I do believe in letting bitches having at least one season before getting done.

Silent seasons always been at the back of my mind but boys have never shown an interest apart from a cursory sniff. I don't know much about them but I'd assume that even if it was silent she would still be of lots of interest?
On the 4th she is officially 2 so she has a few weeks grace and then whether she likes it or not she'll be off for testing!

My first collie bitch who was also a tricky girl, very sensitive, scared of dogs and people and would snap if anyone she didn't know tried to touch her, didn't have a season until she was 20 months. That was late summer and it was May before she had a second. Only reason I hadn't had her spayed after the first season was that she was so scared at the vets and I didn't want to put her through that.

I really feel for you, tricky dogs are so exhausting. I went for a 90min walk this morning along the muddiest slidey clay field paths I could find and although knackering going it was bliss because no one else was using them and I didn’t have to worry about other dogs coming up to him (he’s not as challenging as yours, they have to get right in his face before he starts something, but it’s still tiring being on the lookout for incoming dogs.)

My happy thing this week has been the success of the Roborock vacuum. He completely ignores it instead of shrieking and attacking it like he did the last one. My house is so much cleaner already!
