hi everyone,
this is my first post.
does anyone know how much a 60 x 30 DIY arena would cost???
and how much would a u-shaped stable block with 4 stables, garage, feed store, kitchen and tack room would cost?
please could everyone help me find the best deal :)
thank you.

It really depends on how much groundwork needs doing first. Ie, whether the area is boggy or hilly etc, how much drainage, hardcore and concrete would be needed..

well we have a ditch next to the area but, i have been given a quote of 30 thousand but i thought it would be half the price, we have a concrete base already for the stables so would they be 5-6-7-8-9-10 thousand etc?:p

I couldn't see you getting change out of £50k once you have paid the planners, had the arena built plus fencing, gate, lighting plus a stable block and all the extra outbuildings.

you can do planning yourself, look online at other peoples successful applications in your area. you can also plan the arena and project manage it if you want to, you will need to do a lot of research first though. I got drainage guys to do mine and told them what to do - cost £7k for 20m x 40m - see pics in my profile - I used rubbish stone though and large thick tape round edge instead of rails. My topping was also budget but you should be able to do a 20x40 for £12k with decent stone and better surface - just scale it up for a 60x30 - this is where your costs explode - your arena will have over double the surface area of mine and therefore double the costs (double the stone, drainage - double everything) !

Stables - you can spend as much or as little as you want - if you hunt round you may get a bargain - friends a few years ago got one that was a cancelled order.

Based on the quotes I've had for my stables and my arena I would say that for what you want it would be £50-60k.
My arena was about £28k for a 20x40m fully constructed and fenced. Not sure how much for DIY or your size arena.
Stables are about £2-3k each, double garage £4-5k, tack room etc £1.5-2k each + vat for wooden buildings delivered and erected.

For a mini barn (portal frame rather than standard construction which is 10% more £) plus various other upgrades. With 4 stables and a tack room, it cost £12.5k. Sloping site groundworks, planning, electrics, water drainage etc cost another 10-12k but would have been half on a level site.

Decent arena done properly by one of the good companies £20-25k all in.

With the other buildings you want I also estimate £45k ish for everything done by good companies.

Just to add 30 would be a bit tight for the arena width wouldn't it? Normally 40 min to be comfy?

WOW! arenas are expensive, but if we did all the DIY couldnt we get one for less, our budget is only 20k, the mini barn sounds great, such a good idea :p

My arena as I said was 7k - only 1.5k of that was labour/machine hire - your problem is the size you are looking for - my 7k should have been more like 9k but I didn't pay for some of the stone as it was so bad (full of rubbish I had to pick out) and I didn't have rails !!

Peg out the size you are looking at and think whether you really need it that big or if you could halve your costs and have a 20x40m !! mine is plenty big enough for turnout/schooling and some jumping.

Crimes, our mini barn has come nowhere near that amount! The biggest expense has been the concrete wall panels at £250 odd each (we've used 3x 20ft ones so far) the roof is second hand sheets from a rugby club that was replacing its roof ( look like new though!) stone is free, drainage equipment around 85 -100 quid, plastic/ Perspex roof panel £35, steel not sure, but not loads! Shows how much the labour costs, my hubby has done all the work so far on ours.

Just the concrete and internal wooden panels needed now - panels cost a bomb!
