Stable Bandages.

How long did you wait to ride your horse after they arrived?

Nailed - I use fleece bandages over fibregee - I dont see a problem with that. Ignore the busybody.

Mrs Mozart - I use Thermatex wraps on my boy each night to dry lhis egs off and keep them warm to help minimise stiffness in the morning, so yes you can put them on wet legs as they wick moisture away.

Thank you Pink_Pampas

Off to look at Thermatex 'stuff'!

I use half elastic half fleece ones - and I bandage the nite before shows to keep legs clean and if I have travel studs in- because my horse would find somewhere to hurt himself

Does everyone always use Gamgee or similar underneath stable bandages?? I always used to but that was coz I only did it when little Sorrel had inflmation in his ligaments not for every day use?

Just looked on Thermatex's website, but could only see a choice of three colours

Have a look at the Colin cook ones - think they do loads of colours as I was looking at pink for my gelding!

Not sure what they are like though.

I just missed it. Oops.

i use fleece ones either over pads or alone if they have their own inbuilt padding
i wrap any injured legs, arthritic legs, to keep a horse warm if ill/clipped out rather than putting more rugs on, stop legs from filling for any reason or if they have an injury needing support or if their legs need to be kept clean for some reason.

I was thinking about this the other day, whether people still bandaged for warmth rather thanother layer of rugs. I do when it is really cold particularly as have older horse - use fleecy type ones either over gamgee or a purpose bought wrap. Makes him look warm and cosy as well.

I use fleece bandages with gamgee pads underneath for stable bandages.

If I am bandaging for exercise then I do use fleece/ elastic combo bandages but would not like to leave those on overnight as I'd be worried about them being on too tight.

is it the same principle as with the forelegs when applying stable bandages to the back ones?anything i need to be aware of apart from the usual bandaging stuff?

Use fleece bandages over eskadron or Anky bandage pads (easier to wash and don't fall apart) overnight every night following bout of lymphangitis - non elastic

next time she says some stupid, ask her to show you all the types of bandaging and i bet you she can't do them!!

I'd used the ignore button at yard......
