Since the snow hit us at the weekend my boy is now being brought in about 2.30 - 3pm as after that the yard is to icy. He eats hay until I get there about 6 to muck out etc.

With the extra time in is legs are filling a bit, I have thought about bandaging them but I wouldn't be able to do that until about 6 when I get there and by that time his legs haven't filled that much but I am wondering if doing it then woudl do more harm than good ??So should I just leave it ?

I can't really get him out to walk around as yard is like a death trap skating ring !

Oh the joys of horses in the winter !!!;-)

i have been told to bandage my horses legs as he is recovering from a leg wound that required deep tension stitching and he had vet wrap on for 4 weeks, the first night he had it off his leg really badly swelled up so on vets advice he is infield without anything then when he comes in i bandage him up overnight, i dont do it straight away about an hour or two later (need his legs to be dry) so maybe i am doing it wrong but the girl who puts him out in the morning says his leg is not swollen so fingers crossed.

hope that is some help :)

Doing them a few hours later will be fine, just pick them up a few times and give them a good rub down to get the circulation moving, that should bring them down a bit then just bandage up.
Works wonders for my boy when i used to bring him in. swell with out nothing with.
