Stable base

Has anyone recently laid a concrete stable base? The last time I put a stable base in was 7 years ago & it cost me more than the actual stables did! Slightly had eh? Don't want to make the same mistake again so would like a rough idea of how much to expect to pay for concrete. I don't need any hardstanding in front of the stables as I already have this, literally just the base for the stables. The depth of base I have atm is 6", can this be reduced to say 4 or 5" but reinforced?

I have had concrete poured for 5 stables last year and it cost about £3K I think, that doesn't include any ground works as it was a levelling job inside a barn.
