We have been really fortunate to acquire a small piece of land, just enough to keep our own private horses on. Its just literally a field at the moment, we are looking to be building a L shaped stable block if 4 stables with the corner box being a feed/tack room, we use haylage which we will store outside and wood pellet bedding so no need for a hay store. I dont like the idea of the flat pack wooden stables, partly because i know our horses will eat them and I also have one horse who can try to barge through things and he has previously barged a wooden door down.
I was looking at having a timber building with galvanised type stable fronts and partitions, much like the internal stables you get in barns. I had a quote for a specialist stable company to do the job but it was rather expensive and i am pretty sure we cud do it cheaper ourselves. The other option we have is to block build the stables. Its the only yard we ever want to build so we want it to look 5* but at a reasonable cost, i dont mean cheap cheap but must be worth the money.
Does anyone have any pictures of their own yards that may help me with ideas? I need to get my design done asap to send off to planning.
Thanks
