Due to the ground being sodden and one of my horses 'Princess' attitude to anything other than sunshine she has been stuck in alot this winter and with no let up in the rain looking likely I need so ideas to give her different things to do in her stable. She has a treat ball and also a Jolly Ball (neither of which she has permantly). She also has reqular walks up the lane and ridden exercise. Strangely she does much prefer being in to out but I just want to make sure she doesn't go stir crazy.

Any other ideas??

Ollie has a JollyBall tied with rope to the wall. I coat this (using a sponge) with HorseLyx every day, and he loves playing with it. As it is tied to the wall he can't lie down on it (or chuck it into another horse's stable, frightening the hell out of them, for that matter!).

You could try hiding treats (pieces of apple, carrot, horse treats, etc ) around her stable.
Put a whole apple in her water
Give her loads of hay, if worried about weight gain then soak it overnight, that will remove all the nutrients and protiens but satisfy her innate desire for grazing.
stable mirror (works for some)

Thank you for the fantastic ideas

If you put a hole through the middle of a swede with a skewer/knitting needle/phillips screwdriver, (don't use a flat one as it will split it) thread a bit of string through it and hang it in the middle of the stable ( I tie a short piece of string around it to make a sort of handle, and clip it to a lead rope that I've wrapped around the beams) your horse will have hours of fun trying to eat it. My old boy wouldn't play with any expensive toys but a swede would keep him quiet for hours! The bigger the swede the better as he can't get hold of it so easily! Don't put it too close to the wall or he'll pin it against the wall to get a better purchase on it!
