Stable doors stolen along with horse box

I saw this, absolutely terrible!!! Why would someone take doors of all things? Are they not custom fit?! Just seems so bizarre!

Awful.
Although this is why I would never keep my horse somewhere that someone doesn't live on site and in earshot.
That didn't help a friend 2 yrs ago who lives on site.
Rugs stolen from yard, plus yard tools, bedding bales and hay when she went out late morning to food shop and dentist. Gone 2 hrs.
Living on site can prevent petty thieves unless you never ever leave the property unattended.

It doesn’t stop them at all. My trailer was stolen 20ft from my back door while i was sleeping. Im just glad they didn’t scratch my car as they manoeuvred the trailer around it!

Yep, SIL had two cars stolen off the drive, they had been in the house to steal the keys while 4 of them were asleep upstairs.

Probably 'stolen to order' some one somewhere will be getting a delivery of nice stable doors in a few weeks that are currently 'on order'.
Unless it is a personal issue/grudge that isn't mentioned its too specific a theft to be random.

Trailer was probably just stolen to shift them till they can be transferred to another vehicle or a opportunistic extra.

Just awful but you are probably right!

That’s awful.
I’d be thinking of who visited recently, that was a stranger.
They’re indoor stables, in a big barn….only someone who knew they had that style of stable door that could be easily lifted off their hinges would bother, whereas most standard doors are screw or have a hinge pin to bash out to remove the doors. From the video they look like they’re simply lift-off the hinge doors.

The trailer was likely used to transport the doors.

Many large barns have cameras, how did the thieves know there weren’t cameras inside the barn without having ‘scouted out’ the place before-hand?

Seems like there was potentially some pre-knowledge about the place and what could be stolen allowing a swift pre-planned execution of the robbery by the thieves.

Also, if the horses were left to wander loose, the thieves also knew the horses were ‘kind/manageable’ - maybe horsemen/women, suggesting pre-knowledge again. There’s no way an opportune random thief would have any idea if 12 horses let loose by their actions would be safe to be around, while they stole the doors!

Seems fishy..🤔

At my old yard a trailer was stolen off the main yard, next to the YOs house, whilst she was standing in the paddock next to them, watching them cut the locks off and on the phone to the police! Nothing will stop determined thieves.

Unbelievable!!!

People living on-site and cameras won't put them off. We had a couple of trailers, a caravan and a quad bike stolen from the yard and it's all on CCTV. All the thieves had their faces covered. Towed them across fields as the yard has electric gates right outside the farmhouse.

The CCTV was added after all the tack was stolen. Again they took it all across the fields to a quite lane with no houses. The tack room is only 30ft from the farmhouse.

Google maps has helped thieves no end!

I remember when I used to help out an unaffiliated SJ on a Tuesday night at my local riding club on the tannoy.

One evening someone came into the judges box to say their saddle had been stolen from inside their lorry.

Was it on view on the front seat, we asked in innocence?

It had been stolen off the horses back, after they'd taken it's rug off from inside the lorry!

Nothing surprises me after that!

Mad, I've seen this on facebook- They tied ropes across the doors to contain the horses (well unless they always had ropes tied, I did just assume that bit!)
I'd not want to keep horses where there is no one around either. Here our dogs bark if there is noise and there are so many security lights, the dogs bark if they come on over night too.
We were a bit worried recently as Mr P got back here one day to find a guy looking round, he asked what he was doing and was told he was offering cheap tarmac to which Mr P declined but said he was coming out of one of the big sheds so had had a good nose round before being disturbed.

There's so much of it going on at the moment.
