Hi,

I'm wondering what others do with the top doors on their stables as I've had many different opinions. Some people say never to close it and others always leave it open. Im confused :S

Can you please tell me if and when you close the top stable door

Thanks :)

never closing it and leaving it open has the same effect...

We always leave ours open except to the pony who has sweetitch his stays shut to minimise flies going in and he is happy with that.

usually leave them open except in snowstorm etc in winter. But daft mare managed to get a minor bacterial infection in her back and the vet said that it was best left to the open air to prevent rug rubbing/getting too warm, but as its been so cold at night here Ive been shutting her top door and leaving her in just her snuggy hood! Her stable does have REALLY high ceilings though and decent ventilation. I wouldnt do it as a regular habit and wouldnt do it if the stable wasnt "airy" unless I absolutely had to :).
