We have 2 12 x 12 wooden stables and have 2 horses which will go in these stables. Have just aquired a new 12hh exmoor pony and was planning on leaving out over the winter and she is fine by herself and were going to bring her in for a few hours in the day when the weather is bad when our other 2 go out.
She is really hardy and hates being in the stable so should i stick with this plan? or should i get a small 10x10 put u up stable/ field shelter. If we were to do this we would only want to spend £600 ish. its hard to find one for this price!
She would have lots of lots of grass as we have loads of grazing! and she would be able to see horses in the stables. Only thing is she only has shelter round 2 sides of the field of a thick hedge, the other 2 sides are just fencing.

My 12.2 highland cross lived out all winters he had shelter on most sides of field but he rarely stood under shelter unless really bad. (Hes now on loan) He hated stables came in for about 2hours max if weather bad to have some food and dry out. He did have a MW turnout on throughout winter tho. My only concern would be if we have another winter like last the grass around me atleast was ungrazable for a fair time, but if you can put hay out shouldnt be a prob. Im sure she will be fine, dont worry about her she is bred to be oput and aslong as thats how she likes it then she wil be fine!

She doesn't go crazy when inside, just sort of gets grumpy and stroppy and like runs to go back out again even after 1 hour in. lol. I wasn't going to get a rug for her as exmoors have special coats which mean they can insulate themselves really well from bad weather.
