We're hoping to build another yard in the spring subject to PP. It will consist of 20 internal stables and an indoor arena. Happy as I am with our current 35 IAE Equestrian stables I am looking at something a little smarter for the new yard. So I've been looking at all the UK manufacturers such as Monarch, Hancox, etc, etc but would also love to look at some from other countries. I've seen some yards with stables from Belgium, but can't remember the name? Have looked at Rower and Rub, and Laake. Does anyone know any others from Germany, Netherlands, Belgium??

Also if you were a Pro rider what design of stable would you most want??.......

One thing I am sure on is that the stables will most definitely be made from recycled plastic boards and not wood ;)

Any opinions/help will be most appreciated :)

I like the last best tbh. Particularly as it has nothing over the top of the horses head as Ive seen in the past tall horses or hyperactive ones smacking their heads on the bars you get over conventional internal stabling models and if you have to pad bars in the stables with the offending muppets in it looks shabby!. I suppose it wouldnt if you could get something designed for padding and on every stable but tbh I still think you are better off without and no brained horses! The only thing I cant tell is if there are grills in between each stable rather than say a full or low wall. Personally I'd like grills on a wall but research on here about injuries regarding horses getting their feet through bars even narrow grills to determine that the grills start at a safe height. Thats all I can think of really :) hope it helps and Im sure the yard will be lovely.

i love the Monarch Victorian and Elizabethan combination pic. I have something similar - one stable with scooped sides to door, no top bar, for ones i can absolutely trust not to jump out, but another stable with a top bar so i can put a board across if i'm worried it might. I wouldn't have a yard with all stables with bar across top of door as I've had a horse in for work that was terrified of it, having hit his head on the top of a lot of doorways, and took 25 mins to cajole into stable without him throwing his head up and hitting it again...
i echo that about having the bars v close together, otherwise a striking hoof can force them apart just enough to let the foot through, then they close again, disastrously, around fetlock...
i've found that solid walls or half grilled (solid part at either the front or the back) is more popular with the horses, many appreciate their privacy and don't want their neighbour being able to peer at them all the time. especially the mares!
i'd always go for bigger stables than the norm, 2 of mine are about 14' x 14' and it makes a big difference for stabled horses imho, and takes no longer to muck out etc.
i'd probably go for the plastic panels rather than hardwood, easier to steam clean etc.
sounds like an amazing set-up, hope it goes smoothly!

I love the Monarch Victorian/Elizebethan combination - thats how I would have my stable fronts given the choice, then a solid wall half way up, then the top half split 50/50 solid wall/talk grille.

Hi there, we have just build a some internal stables. Like you we searched everywhere, and in the end copied the rower and rub stables. My dad has a metal fabrication business and we made them from scratch, this allowed us to make them just how we wanted. We purchased the plastic tounge and groove, and i cannot stress how brilliant a product this is. I would never use wood again! If you search my post you will find some pics, or i can post another here as we have now virtually finished them. We are looking into making them as a sideline.

I don't have a strong opinion on the actual make but my strong preference for style would be to have full height boards between horses rather than have the bars.

From my experience there is a lot of competitive niggling between horses in the american barns with half bars design. I'd rather my horse had privacy (although the option to open up a small talk area is an added bonus)

Thanks everyone for the advice :)

The stables will definitely be 14 x 14, made of plastic and will be fully boarded with an interaction grill inbetween, it works really well.

We have these at the moment...

So we have both swinging and sliding doors and personally I much prefer the swinging doors!

Anyone know of any other companies??

If possible, I would always want to have a window to the outside world at the back of each stable that they can actually get their head out of (i.e. you can open and close it). Horses seem to really appreciate it.

I second the other points below, in particular not having bars between the stables except for a small section at most, and also having them at a minimum of 14' square. Mine are 15' square and very roomy for a 16.1hh but quickly look just the right size for 16.2hh and upwards.

As a livery, I would be delighted to put my horse in any of those! They look lovely and I particularly like the idea of a window to the outside world and the 14 x 14 is a great size too. Whereabouts are you MillionDollar, because I would livery with you any day of the week! :)

Ha ha, thanks. South Warwickshire. The new yard will be rented out to a pro rider. The pics above are the livery stables. This is our outdoor arena.....
