Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for stable manufacturers in the Midlands area?

I have had some quotes from companies further afield but wondering if any smaller companies nearer that would be more cost effective.

I have a brochure from Harlow Bros but as the roads to me are very narrow it seems they won't deliver to us :(

It's for a stable block of 4 12x12 stables, a 12x16 corner stable, 10x12 covered walkway and 6x12 tack room so not a huge job but not small either. All being done within permitted development :)

Withington Hill Stables from New Mills, Derbyshire are very good. They do deliver to sites with very restricted access, as they took me on a tour of local stabling they'd put up and much of it was up very steep, narrow, tiny lanes.

They are great people to deal with (had my first field shelter off them in 1986). I now have an L shaped stable block from their Excel range (the top one, with extra eave height etc.) I have two 12' x 14' stables, a 12' x16' corner stable and two 8' x 12' tack/feed rooms. Plus two field shelters, one 12' x 20' and one 12' x 30', so have done a lot of business with them! I have had extra windows and talk grilles put in mine, so they are particularly bright and airy.

They are practical, good looking and long lasting buildings, and competitively priced. You're welcome to come and have a nosey at mine, if you want.
 
It's nice that you've got recommendations on here for several different companies. Once you've got a short list, ask each company to show you several existing stable set ups in use by clients, not just a new show complex.

It's always revealing to see how the buildings stand up to real life horsey wear and tear. Withington Hill offer this as a matter of routine, and I imagine that any reputable company does the same.

It is :biggrin3: sadly due to the current position of stables and cost of concrete I am not able to put them exactly where I would like BUT have had a little epithany re extending existing ones to suit so feeling bit happier about where we they will be now.

Have drawn my little plan of where things will go, agonised about size of tack room versus loosing 2 ft of one of the stables, changed a hay barn for a covered walkway and decided where my electric points, taps, automatic water drinkers and hay bars will go.

All I haven't done is decided which pony will go in which stable and if my Shetland will be allowed her own tiny door :)

Hope so! For last 3 winters have had 5 horses and 3 stables so been fun juggling them around! Will be so nice having everything where I want, horses so they can see each other whether in or out and taps and auto water drinkers and a wash down/farrier area and hay bars.. ......*wanders off in happy daze*
 
*Update*

I went with County Equestrian Buildings as per JillA's suggestion :) very glad I did as stables look awesome they were very helpful and patient with me as I kept changing my mind and adding things left right and centre :biggrin3:

Some larger companies I was considering were very much 'this is the way it is no exceptions, now can I have an order please?' So was very nice to deal with people who when faced with all my random ideas said 'yes that's fine we could do it like this..........' :biggrin3:
