Hi, looking for some guidance from anyone who has recently fitted stable mats. I've got a good price from a supplier but wonder if anyone has used the croc-top style with studded underside for multi directional drainage. I was going to go for the bubble top with drainage channels underneath but I'm told that the croc-top with studs is a better bet as the horse is warmer, having a layer of air between the mat and floor. I know some of the expensive mats ie. Kraiberg have opted for a studded underside on some of their new mats and would be interested in views.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I have bubble top mats, with the grooves underneath, and have never found them difficult to sweep. We had some croc top mats in one stable and they have worn down really quickly. Not sure who they were manufactured by but I wouldn't have them again!

I don't have a problem with drainage but I only have them on the front of my stable, which has a concrete floor. The back half has a dirt floor so I only put bedding on that area (deep litter shavings/aubiose).

I have bubble top and always make sure I sweep downwards not across the mats and this seems to be easier.

I have croc top and have been down for about a year and abit. i love it and so easy to sweep. have you had samples sent through ? if not i would ask for some you can make your mind up better then

Thanks for all the replies. With your croc top, can you tell me which company you used? Thanks

Ive got the kraiburg type mats down with the grooves underneath. So far they have been fantastic. Any of the bubble top/ridged tops i hate as they are a bastard to sweep and are slippy.

We have bubble and croc-top. Bubble right pain to sweep unless you have really good brushes. Haven't found them to be slippery. Ours are from Ebay shop, about £24 per sheet plus delivery (or collect if you're feeling energetic!).

Note: very slippery when new! Gave ours a good covering until they'd calmed down a bit.
