Stable mirrors - any negative experiences?

I am thinking about getting one of these for my youngster who is suffering from seperation anxiety having just moved yard (she isnt left alone but is still stressed). I have read a few positive posts but wondered if anybody had found it made things worse - more stressed or attacking mirror?

oh dear:-) i think mine might come in that category too. Were they normally dominant in the field? Mine is submissive to other horses (though not always people).
 
yep, mine too. normally he's the most layed back pony and gets on great with all horses, but as soon as the mirror went up, he attacked it!
attcking the mirror is his new hobby and its getting that bad, its coming down on sat.

but......again, you never no till you try x
 
I can only say good things about mine.
I got it for my 30 year old who suffered from the most dreadfull separation anxiety I have ever known. It didn't actually work with him .He did not however show any agression to it and he was an absolute ratbag with other horses including the one he could not bear to be separated from .He would often bite and kick her but separate them and he would be lathered up within 10 mins.
The mirror came into its own when the old boy died.The mare who had never been on her own before would stand in front of it and whisper sweet nothings to her "friend". I have even seen her attempt to nuzzle her reflexion. She had suffered from separation anxiety before I had her but has never even called to another horse since she has had access to the mirror. She will even attempt to groom her reflexion!
 
NO mine and three friend all have them (one has a very dominant mare, who can't be turned out with others) and all the horses love them. Only trouble is having to clean the slobber off from all the mirror kissing that goes on!!!

We have had good results with horse who is a very bad weaver. If he has to stand for a short while in another stable he starts to weave like mad - yet has virtually stopped in his own stable which has mirror fitted. We didn't think it would work - but it has been very effective.
 
..........and there was I just saying I hadn't read any negative feedback about them!

Reading this though, I am seriously tempted to get some for a couple of boarders here that trash my stables when they are bought in and left alone.

I love stable mirrors, and I bought one from a company on the internet for my youngster for the very same reason. However, it cracked when she leaned on it, and then the company would not return my calls and emails even though I was looking for advice rather than a replacement. I am not afraid to name and shame the company, but not sure it will be allowed on this forum.

Please PM me if you would like to know the company I originally bought the mirror from so yuo can avoid them, and I can give the the ones I have just bought a replacement from who have been absolutely excellent in their customer service.

I have just ordered a 1000mm x 1000m (1m x 1m) mirror from the lovely man, cost me including P&P £37, instead of the £69 that the 'horse' mirrors cost...

Man said they are exactly the same material and I'm not the first to buy one from him for my hoss!!
