My stables need a preservative painting on this year. They are at present a honey colour. I am very undecided what type to use and what colours, suggestions please.
I use Cuprinol 5 year Ducks Back, i use the Harvest Brown colour which is a lovely dark brown . but they do lots of colours and i know there is a colour like the one you have been using its called Harvest Gold . http://www.cuprinol.co.uk/products/ducksback_overview.html
I use the cuprinol fence and shed preserver in golden brown. soaks into the wood easily and is a nice colour. I prefer this one to the ones that sit on top of the wood as they all seem to come out orangy red and look unnatural. For my field shelters I use old sump oil which is free from my local garage and goes on really easily and prevents horses biting it. It does come out quite dark but lasts for years and years.
I use Ronseal dark oak sprayable on my shelter and stables even inside for the bottom half of the stables so the bankings dont rot it, and i use brown sandtex for the large metal sheds and now everything matches and looks great! best thing is its safe for animals.
