dUPLICATED IN STABLE YARD MORE PEOPLE VIEWING HERE:)

My horse starting coming in of a night about 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. Her neighbour ( gelding) constantly stands close to her stable and stares at her. Anyway, the YO approached me last week and told me that the gelding had gone out of the stable to be worked and my horse wasnt happy but when they bought the gelding back to his stable my horse double barrelled the wall in between them and then leant against it with her body. She was obviousl very stressed at this point. When i arrived the following morning she was her usual quiet self. Unfortunately, since then she has been out 24/7 as the wall is being fixed and slats added so the gelding cant touch or stare at her over the wall. My problm now is when i bring her into the stable to tack her up she is so stressed and today i couldnt ride because she was so worked up, banging against the door and box walking, calling etc( no other horses were in) - i just wondered what peoples thoughts were on here please

is there another stable you could move her to?

my gelding was in a stable set back from the others so he would bang the door all the time as he couldnt see any other horse. He is now is the middle of the block and never bangs, well except for when im taking to long to get him out x

Can they actually see each other through the stable wall.as I have mine designed on the old style where they can all see each other(grills) my young mare is stabled to my young gelding but the only time she really kicks the stable wall is at feed time and she really gives it a wallop, but he's the one that gets a little stressed, cann't move him, but this has been going on for 3 years and I've given up worrying.

Well I'm afraid you are going to have to persevere with her and get her into some sort of routine whereby she knows that when she comes into the stable, you do what you nedd and then she goes out again.

It will be a bit of a battle because I have been there with my mare. She used to kick the back wall, try and climb the door, spin round etc etc. You will need to stay calm. Initially I would bring her down, un rug, give her some hay or a small feed or brush etc or even tack her up for lunging ( even if you do it off a headcollar) do what you need to do and then turn her out again. She needs to learn that firstly you wont rise to her behaviour and that once she has done what is required she can go back out again. Or bring her in when there is another horse nearby.

She will need to gain confidence from you and she is obviously feeling insecure.
