Hi. I need to re-roof my stable as the onduline has come to the end of its life so I'm looking for opinions on materials. I don't know whether to replace with steel box profile or stick with Onduline. Fibre cement is too heavy.

Questions if you have box profile are: is it noisy in heavy rain?
do you have condensation issues?
is it under-boarded with OSB?

I know Onduline has it's issues but the existing stuff has done its 15 years - just!!

We are in a very exposed position with frequent high winds.

Many thanks!

Ours have onduline, I do think it's pretty rubbish really. Ours is 14 years old but I think we have had to replace a couple of sections. Will be interesting to know what others think about their box profile.

We have had our barn and stable blocks roofed in fibre cement roofing. It's more expensive than onduline but I really like it. The sheets are bigger so for the stable blocks there are no horizontal joins as there generally are with onduline, it doesn't move at all in the wind and seems to keep the stables cooler in summer. I will eventually do all our outbuildings in it.

Agree with the box profile with the anti condensation lining, it's slightly noisier than onduline but not much. normal rain is okay and the really heavy stuff or hail doesn't tend to last long.

Steel box profile for me too. Even without the anti condensation, it's fine, and mine looks just like pantiles, so smart and goes up very quickly.
