Stable rug too big around neck

I have a nice Mark Todd stable rug that fits my girl in the length of back but is too baggy around the neck. Has any one ever altered a rug to make it fit? Any ingenious ideas welcome as i cant afford a new one for the winter!

You need to find someone to put darts in the neck.Do you know anyone that makes curtains,They will need a heavy duty sewing machine.

I've put darts in cotton sheets/ coolers when they've been too baggy around the neck & slip back on the wither.

Having said that, I would take a thick rug to the local rug wash place as they also repair them.
Best to put rug on, fold up the darts & mark them on the rug so you get the correct fitting.

The other way to do it is to get velcro and a clip put on the neck. You can then just adjust it accordingly.

I have discribed this appaulingly, but if you ever saw the 'Eiger' rugs they came with them already had them on so you could tighten it to creat a dart.

If you grab a handful of the rug on top of the wither and tightly tie bailer twine around it will do the trick nicely

If you use it over another rug you may find it is fine and you don't need to make any alterations.
