Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking for a 50g - thinking towards Swish at the moment - does anyone have a Swish stable rug? I have their turnouts and absolutely love them and they fit my horse really well. Horseware doesn't fit him at all.
I do have a 100g Le Mieux Kudos which fits lovely but its a lot of money for another rug and separate neck for a 50g and also the same colour! I like different weights in different colours for quickness in the winter so I know what I'm putting on!

Swish are great. If by any chance you want a 6ft unused 50g in hot pink, I've got one to sell 😂😂. My mare told me in no uncertain terms she did not want to be wearing a stable rug, so it's stayed in its bag ever since.

I buy expensive outdoor rugs as then they are waterproof (proper goretex type layer instead of relying on a 'coating'), but for stable rugs I just buy cheap ones from ebay.

Rhinegold seem to be quite generous in depth.

I do try to get a high dernier, so they resist poo and wee a bit better.

That’s funny. I was about to start a similar thread. I have had the Kudos rug come up but as you say, it’s a lot of money for a 50g rug, so I wondered how good actually was. Currently having a very old amigo insulator which I can see is still being manufactured so that might be where I go. Never really come across swish so following with interest.

The Horseware and Mark Todd ones were the best fit for my anglo , but I was tempted by the Swish one whe i saw a friends purchase

I really like the Shires stable rugs also as reasonably priced, hard wearing and a good fit. I don't find 50g stable rugs terribly useful tbh and generally go for 100g as just enough to offer a little warmth when needed. I do use 50g turnout rugs as they tend to be more waterproof than just a rainsheet, but find with lower weight stable rugs they just flatten the coat and don't offer enough to actually add any warmth if that makes sense. I have a PE 100g stable sheet and it is just about right for the unclipped ones on cold night and the clipped ones on an autumnal night. (Although wouldn't recommend the PE rug as while it looks very smart I'm not overly enamoured with the fit on the shoulders and wouldn't want to try it on anything particularly chunky).

Not sure if they do it in a 50g, but I got a PE Hydra stable rug a couple of years ago in a sale, and it's blooming fantastic :) Nice and deep, well cut, and it's water repellant so good for when rain/fog drives in ( joys of the east coast moors) , and resists stable stains. It washes easily, and comes up like new even after 2 winters with a horse who LOVES to roll.
