Stable security...I'm having a wobble

Was going to move horse up to uni with me and found a lovely small yard (4 horses) with very friendly owners etc. However it is on a lane with loads of other small yards and paddocks but not a house for bloody miles and I'm getting cold feet about security! Obviously I wouldn't leave my tack but thats replaceable unlike my horse

Yes not ideal, but its not that likely to happen. My horses are out 24/7 at the moment. Yes they are at home, but I can't see the field from my house so its not really that different. (mind you I am not sure who would want my horses ha ha )

Is your horse freeze marked? If not I would do it and also mark his rugs to say 'this horse is freeze marked'. Are the gates locked at night and is there any other security?
 
As oldmare says not ideal, but even if someone lives on site they won't necessarily see / hear anything. I would make sure my horse was freezemarked and also see if the field gates / yard gates are or can be locked? Perhaps the yard also has cctv?
 
I can't see my yard from my house, there is a house behind my fields but they can't actually see the fields either (unless they really try).

I have a cheap CCTV set-up which has done wonders for me keeping an eye on my new boy, although it did also show me what a monster he is when he kicked in my stable!!!

Possibly a good idea, also I lock my main gate at night as it's on a road, but my back gate (which backs out into a farmer's field) I leave unlocked.
 
Thanks for the replies. Horse is freezemarked and gates are padlocked, but as AmyMay pointed out there is a fire risk especially considering that the stables are wooden. I think I am just lucky at the moment that our stables have a flat above them so the people really do hear everything that goes on (to the point of not being able to use snack balls because it kept them awake!), a nice noisy dog and if a vehicle were to enter it would not go unnoticed.
