Stable size

I am intending to convert a field shelter into a stable with a tack/feed section. Well, that was the original plan until I measured it at 20x10 feet. So, I am now wondering whether it would make more sense to convert it into two 10x10 stables, so I would have a spare stable if need be. But is 10x10 really pony-size and too small for a 15.2hh lightweight horse??

I think 12 x 12 is probably as small as I would go for a 15.2hh if they had to be in often. My lad is this size and his box is 3.5m x 3.4m (so about 12 x 12).

If it is just to come in at night in the winter etc. 10 x 10 is probably OK. As long as they can turn around and get up and down comfortably.

Hmm I think you are right, I will probably make it 10x12 or 10x14 and just have a little tack area as well. Thanks.

I have 15.2h - 16h hefty great QH types in 11 x 10's and they are quite happy in there.
