Hi all,

I have my horse on a livery yard with a smallish stable. Not sure of the exact size as haven’t measured it. She seems perfectly happy, can turn around and lies down every night but there isn’t loads of room. She’s been in there for a while, never got cast.

How do you know if it’s too small?

Am wondering if I should look to move for a bigger stable. Turnout is pretty good but they are in at night all year round.

A bigger stable is always nice but what is the rest of the yard like? Is your horse settled happy? Do you like current yard? Those would be the deciding factor for me.

How big is your horse? The recommended size for a horse is usually 12 x 12 feet and for a pony about 10 x 10. The stables I have are 15 x 10 and I have a 16.1 hh chunky ID x in one of those without any problems.
