My horse is stabled overnight and I would like to get her something to keep her occupied so she doesn't get bored. However, I have been told by her last owner that she is scared of stable toys, which doesn't surprise me, being scared of her own shadow!

I gave her a turnip last week, which she ran away from and wouldn't touch so I threw it out.

Ideally, I want a toy that I can use again and that will keep her busy all night if possible.

Can anyone suggest anything else I could give her to keep her occupied during the night, or some way to help her overcome her fear of stable toys!

Thanks in advance

I thought I might try one of those, but think I'll borrow one off someone first cos I don't want to buy one then have her hide in the opposite corner of her stable from it, which she has been known to do! She literally ran away from the turnip last time!

I think maybe if it has food in it she'll be a bit more tempted

ETS - she has plenty hay but I want something else as well so she's a bit more stimulated rather than standing eating hay all night, I bet that gets pretty boring!

If you do find something please let me know! I have a TB who I can't leave with any stable toys, he is petrified of them and won't move a muscle incase they eat him!

Even hanging carrots up scared him, as when he went to eat them they moved and hit the wall behind them. They were hanging up for days before I took them down. But he'll take your hand off for a prostrate carrot!! Bizarre!
