Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep two fillies (3 & 1 years old) distracted in their stables over night?
I want to keep their minds occupied! I've just bought them a jolly ball and decahedron but they're still playing with their buckets and I feel they're getting bored and starting bad habits/vices!
Thanks :)

Hi,

My friends 4 yr old was constantly doing things like chucking his feed bucket outside the stable, kicking the door etc.
Then my friend decided to try a mirror, that has seemed to have worked a treat! He stands there looking in the mirror and touching it for quite a while.
I would definately reccomend a mirror.
There is also a tongue twister that my friends 4 yr old has, that has 2 lickits in each side and it spins around. That seems to keep him occupied all day!
I hope i have helped :)

Thanks I'll try the mirror. I was going to get them the hanging lickits as I know Bailey will lick the wall attached ones until they're gone. They have a big rock salt block hanging between their stable on their partition and she's slowly demolishing that!
Tink isn't as bad, but she's older and I've started working her now so she's just knackered at night! I'm hoping when I get out showing Bailey will be too tired from that to get bored!

add lib hay and a decaheadron did it for mine! if they're tipping their water buckets, try bigger tubs and weighting them down with a few bricks in the bottom (mine started doing this in the field last year)...

If you use hay/haylage nets I put carrots or even some nuts in the centre of the hay in the net.Once he worked out they were in there it keeps his attention for quite sometime as he can't get them as quick as when i just poke carrrots threw the netting , i figured that then at least once he's played with his snak a ball , horselyx, likit and rock salt lick then eaten some of his net he would then get bits of nuts or carrots apearing or dropping out.Works for mine anyway.
I like Mirrors too ! I used one for my last horse but she got a bit obsessed with her twin sister and used to rush back to her stable to talk to her, she went from hateing been in the stable to not wanting to leave it.
