Hi
My name is Daniel and I am currently in my second year on the BSc Equine studies degree. I am looking at beginning to get the data for my dissertaion for the third year. I am investigating the posibility of a link between genetics and stereotypical behaviours (Cribbing, weaving, box walking ect).

I am looking for througroubred race/ ex-racehorses that display any type of vice. If you own or know of a horse that fits this criteria could you give me the folowing details: Horses full name, year of birth, gender, sire and the vice they display. Please note that I am only looking at pure throughbreds.

Manythanks

Horses full name: Barney's Dancer
Year of birth:2004
Gender:Female
Sire: Iron Mask (USA)

Vice they display: Cribbing/Wind Sucking

Lady Lion
2007
Filly
Hunting Lion (GB)
Cribbing/Windsucking

Half sister to Lady Lion (by the same sire but out of Lady's Grandam also seen to Crib and windsuck)

Are you going to look at horses who never raced or spent any time in a racing yard to see if it is nature (i.e. the breeding) or nurture (the way they are kept and managed) which contributes to the vices?

My dissertation is to see if genetics play a part in horses developing vices, so I will be looking at thouroughbreds that have not raced as well.

Name: Arawak Prince (IRE)
Gender: Gelding
Year of Birth: 1996
Colour: Chestnut
Sire: College Chapel
Dam: Alpine Symphony (Northern Dancer (CAN)
Vice: Weaving and Windsucking

Please let me know if you find anything out about him or his parents please :D

Not sure if mine will be any use to you but...
Name: Saint Remus
Gender: Gelding
Year of Birth: 2004
Colour: Dark Bay
Sire: PETONG
Dam: FUR WILL FLY
Vice: Boxwalking
But as I said it might not be any use to you as he started not long after he arrived, but he has now moved stables and vice seems to have disappeared!
