Have any of you done it? Have any of you had problems with it?
Was the noise of whistles or excited children a problem when you were in the stable or schooling?
Did you do anything to reduce the impact?

My company are building a sports pitch next to a livery yard and the YO is concerned about the noise upsetting the horses.

TIA x

We were over the fence from a sports and playing field in Essex..

Horses weren't bothered.. My then youngster wasn't too impressed with cricket balls or bicycles but is fine now..

Only problem was when one of our horses went through the fence and they had 17.1 of charged up, rig monster careering around the sports ground.. Luckily he caught easily..

So my advice, make sure your fencing is secure if not impenetratable :D

The yard i work at backs onto a rugby club/pitch and it yes tbh it winds the horses up on match days. Much of the time there is no problem and the horses are actually excersised quite a way away from the yard so it never effects that but they do get really worked up in their boxes sometimes.
Personally i look at things like this as the more a horse is used to dealing with at home the more bombproof and easy to hack they are!

We have an adventure playground immediately adjacent to the yard - huge zip wire and everything :D It's brilliant (and fun after yard bbqs  :D)

The horses are the most chilled out bunch you can find, really not bothered by it at all. I think any desensitisation you do the better, I like busy yards where they get used to noise, children, dogs, chickens etc. :D

We're right next to the village playing fields (very tempted to use it for dressage practice but would be killed if I was caught ). Can be very noisy when the kids football lessons are on and sat/sun afternoon football matches - but none of our horses seem to mind - even the stress head TB. Good for the horses to get used to noise/ barking dogs/ flying footballs, etc.

Can think of much worse things that could be built next door.

I didnt realise for a while, but on the other side of our fence is a playing fields (we have a high garden type fence on that side of field so I hadnt seen it.
My horses dont care, can hear the kids shouting on a weekend but the horses ignore it :)
