I'm going to Newcastle in September for a week or two and wondered if anyone could recommend a stables and dog kennels.

The dog will be with me most of the time but I may need to kennel him for one or two days/nights.

I'd also like to get some riding in while I'm up there but that can be within a reasonable drive from Newcastle.

Anyone used kennels/stables around that area? What did you think of them? Anyone live near to any they know to have a good reputation?

I've been looking up some stables and have found the following:

- Redesdale http://www.visitnorthumberland.com/countryside/redesdale
- Todburn Equestrian
- Kimmerston Riding http://www.kimmerston.com/horse_rides.htm
- Shipley Lane Equestrian http://www.shipleylane.co.uk/
- Slate Hall Riding Centre http://www.slatehallridingcentre.com/

Has anyone used these stables? What was it like? How well are the horses kept?

Just FYI, for anyone else visiting and interested in riding up there, I got these stables from here http://www.northumbrian-cottages.info/activity-search-results.aspx?activity=251642

Haven't got far with dog kennels yet though, so still after info on them if anyone's used any in that area :)

Hi, all the centres you have mentioned are pretty far north from Newcastle, an hours drive at least, but nice areas! Todburn is just a livery yard and competition venue by the way. I have never been to any of them personally, just heard of them so sorry no help with that! Were you wanting closer to Newcastle and a kennels close to Newcastle as in the city centre(obvs not a kennel in the city centre!) ?

Not many places do temporary atabling so it would be worth looking at the BE website to see who is offering temporary stabling for Belsay this weekend.

High Plains does holiday livery, forest rides on site, arena, nice hacking, only visited, but looks to be a well kept yard.
Todburn, local to me, brilliant hacking and they have an arena, according to their website.
Dog Kennels, there's one at Stannington, looks well kept and clean, I think it's called A1.
Try googling them as I pass at least 3 signs for kennels on a daily basis in the Morpeth area, which isn't too far from Newcastle.
There is also a horse oriented kennels at Beamish, Durham, a lovely knowlegable couple, again not far from Newcastle.
If you are in our region, you may as well see what we have to offer
