I really don't want to leave my yard but after a visit to see a friend at one with an indoor school yesterday I realised how much I miss having one. I haven't ridden in about 2 weeks because of weather.

I left Oldfold for good reason and so I'm not going back there. Then there's Eastermains and Denburn which are both well out of my budget. Sunnyside is also far too expensive considering that I'm not even ALLOWED to muck out my own horse if I go there, same goes for Eastermains and Loanhead.

I visited Ladymyre a while ago and they said they weren't really taking on any liveries anymore.

So I guess the question is can anyone think of anywhere that maybe I've forgotten to check or don't know about? That has an indoor school and is maybe slightly closer to my budget?

All these places that are £260 etc are definite no-nos. I'm looking to buy a flat soon and that comes first. If they're all going to cost me my savings every month then I guess I'll just stay put and continue riding once a month

Hmm been to Fountain for a nosey and its very nice but the woman seemed a bit full of herself - when I asked if I could be certain they would use Major's bridle when turning him out (he WILL run away if not) she said
"oh well we'd use it for a little while but after that he won't need it"
I asked her what she meant and she actually said "oh well he wouldn't dare do that after we teach him some manners"

Erm, you're not touching my horse. EVER. lol.

Ladyleys looks lovely. Might have a phone about and ask for prices etc

I'm at Goval and I love it there much better than the yard I used to be at (not naming names...and nearly twice the price)
I doubt you'll get anywhere with an indoor school for under £260, well maybe if on DIY livery. I'd say Ladyleys is probably the only option, can't think of anywhere else that has an indoor school.

You sound like an over cautious owner to me....wait a minute...now there was a thread on that subject....wasn't there?

Difficult place to have a horse, isn't it?

Cant think of any more places that have indoor schools but a cheaper option might be a DIY yard near Hayfield and then join (its only £20 a year or something) and use their indoor school. Obviously you'd still need to hack but its just a short distance and the roads are usually pretty quiet. There are a number of DIY yards round there I think but I dont know their names.

Thinlk you'll be hard pushed for that price in Aberdeen for something with indoor school thats why there a lot more expensive rates are horrendous!!Oldfold obviously get by that with riding school probably covering school rates etc.Know rates bout trebled when G left (as he still had it under agricultural or something)
J is hoping to build indoor across they way -don't know when tho

could take long enough.
Know what you mean tho bout indoor tho do so miss it

Its just so frustrating because when I was at Oldfold I was on grass livery and had full use of the schools etc and it was only £20 a week. No chance of that anywhere else though

Lol Shilasdair, ask TequilaMist about Major, but trust me its not overcautious - I have a lovely scar that needed 5 stitches on my hip, a cracked elbow and several other aches and pains caused by that horse and his little habits! I don't mind if he runs away from people - he just goes for the nearest food source - its more the people leading him I worry about. I don't need any lawsuits against me thanks! I have little enough money as it is!

*sigh* I suppose I'll have to put up with only having an outdoor school for now until I'm rich. I just have no motivation to ride when its peeing down rain and he feels the need to jump over all the puddles in the outdoor school.
