Hi,
My horse hates his stable. He has always been a box walking door kicker but would always settle down and eat his hay/ dinner and get a good groom after a little while. Over the few months he has become worse. He will pace around his stable, try to barge the door open and kick the door. He looks so much more agitated and anxious, desprate to get out his stable. I know there has been a few things that have changed, including the stable block over the last few months that may be upsetting him. The block used to be full but now most of the horses who lived in there are not there now (he dosent like change very much!) . There are a couple of things that I can think have made him so much more anxious but there is nothing I can do about any of these things
He does normally come in with another horse and he seems a little more settled but its not long atall before he starts again. Im terrified that he will end up really hurting himself! He only comes in for his dinner just now but I dread if he ever needed box rest what would happen. I have tried building up his time in the stable really gradually (with other horse there for company) but it gets to the point I dont think its safe for him and he goes back to the field.
Does anyone have any tips/advice please? Or does anyone have a horse that just cannot be stabled for any reason?
Thanks for reading!
