this is just me having a usual blonde moment,
for my stage 1 exam it says preferably not a navy/ black jacket but then tells you tie/shirt/stock to wear with a black or navy .. is it okay for me to wear my navy one or should i get a hacking jacket?
embarasment for being so thick! :P

I think generally a hacking jacket is preferred, with a shirt and tie (plain not patterned tie). But it is a few years since I did mine & the rules may have changed a bit.

They like you to wear a hacking jacket as it is a 'working' day, however they won't penalise you for wearing a navy or black one. I believe you can also wear a navy v neck sweater? The main thing with the jacket is it fits well and you feel comfortable in it, make sure you ride in your clobber, through the kind of movements you would in your exam, just so you are very comfy in jacket.

They really do prefer a hacking jacket. I wore a brown tie with mine which had cream spot on it and that was fine. Just don't think they like anything too loud!!

Make sure your underwear isn't coloured too and can't be seen through your jods and shirt! There's an examiner around this area that HATES that!!
