Am I being blind or is there no Stage 4 books available? I appreciate that you shouldn't just use a book to get through the stages, and you have to do your own research, but I felt that the books were so handy for giving guidance? So a bit gutted if there isn't a book, I think I'll be alright because it looks like a lot of my degree stuff is in it, so I do have plenty of books etc, but a bit miffed why there isn't a book similar to the rest?

Thanks!

On the bhs website there should be a recommended reading list? And I think (don't quote me on this) there's a stage 3&4 revision notes book because I think I've seen one online. If your going to do a course maybe ask the center what books they recommend x

Thank you Soph, I have seen the revision notes one, I forgot to mention, I was umming and ahhing about that one as to what was in it as obviously buying online I can't actually flick through it! - The BHS have got a recommended reading list, which includes the BHS Stable mnagement book and Vet guide, I know for a fact how thick those books are, and guessing a price tag to go with it :P might go to a library to have a look :P Thanks!!

There is a stage 3/4 combined book. There is also a revision notes book (unofficial).

The stage 4 starts to go far deeper in depth and, as such, the individually focussed books are of much more use.

The full recommended reading list can be found here http://www.britishhorse.com/edit/files/PDFs/recreading1-4-.pdf (There is a sticky in the Careers section of the forum but HHO have stashed that section in the darkest depths of the forum!).

It is not necessary to read them all but I would recommend at least one on stud management, one on nutrition, one on anatomy (including systems), one on fitness and one with business management advice.

If I can help, just shout,

I agree with this, i have the combined and it just scratches the surface, you need the syllabus and individual specialised books x

This is real good did Equine Business management degree with horse bio, and repro, so just need to get some nutrition knowledge :P Brill!

This is great - though you do need to ensure that you can speak with some practical experience (as I'm sure you know). Though it is appreciated that you may not have in depth experience in every area, a 'real world' speaker makes a huge difference.

Yep yep, totally agree, think that's the main thing that helped me through my stage 3, I was mostly "winging it" but real life experience is the key to making it easy and making sure you pass!
