stain repellant stable rugs??

Can anyone suggest good quality, not too expensive stable rugs suitable for rubber matting? My mare is quite messy and last years rugs have fallen apart from frequent scrubbing sessions. They don't need to be too thick as she is a wooly type.

If you're not planning on using much bedding then you'll have to use TO rugs rather than stable rugs.

I use rugs with Polypropylene outers for my mats, though I do have a 3" - 4" deep bed over half the floor to stop them getting to messy. This type of outer does keep off the worst of the stains and damp. If you are using minimal bedding, then you will need to use t/o rugs.

Robinsons do a PP rug for £33 with a 300 fill. Mark Todd Ultimate stable rugs are also PP outers and they come in various weights. You can pick them up on Equestrian clearance sometimes.

I also have two of these rugs, but they are now 400 fill where they used to be 350 so might be too warm. They are excellent quality and are now on their third year and still like new.

Ditto, I know many people who just use turnout rugs in the stable.

Just use turnout rugs, much simpler. I never buy stable rugs anymore now that the turnout rugs are so breathable

I bought the Horseware Rhino stable med weight with a seperate hood last year for my boy as he is a bit of a minger in his stable bless him. Really, really chuffed with it, has a really tough outer and was the only stable rug I could find that was, it cost about £50 plus £30 for the neck and you can put a liner in to make it thicker. Liked it so much that have bought the same rug in a turnout for this season. I searched high and low for tough, stain resistant rugs and apart from sticking to turnout rugs, this was the only one I could find. Used to have a tough Fal stable rug, years ago but they're not a good fit on my boy but the Rhino is.

I also use turnout rugs indoors on mats. Horses happier too as don't need to change out of warm rug into a chilly one. Saves time too, unless you need to add/take off a layer.
