Stallion Expo - when is it on H&C please? Also, Uptons Deli Circus.

I didn't get there but wish I had, one in particular I really want to see as a back-up in case mare doesn't take again to my first choice (very unlikely, and only 1 go left unfortunately) is Uptons Deli Circus, i just love the fact that he's still jumping for fun, sound and keen at age 20. Does he throw a decent size, my worry is that he's only 15.2, my mare's 16.3 NH tb but a maiden. i'll be trying to breed an eventer for myself, and i look a bit daft on anything under 16.1. any advice gratefully received. thankyou.
 
He was lovely to watch. Still loving his job at 20. Not an extravagant mover, but then he is not bred for that. I have a friend who put him to a tb 16.1/16.2 hh mare and hers is nearly 16.3 as a rising 4 year old. He is also still entire and will prob present for stallion grading this year. He is coloured.

I am also thinking of using him on my mare, but she is grey and him being coloured, not sure I want a blue and white.

Shame you couldn't go, as despite some very negative reports it was a great day out, to see a range of British stallions in one place. I hope it gets bigger and better in the future.
 
We are looking after friends two year old. She came out of a good 16.2 mare and I would be suprised if she made 15.3 in the end. Our yearling (8 month old) is already nearly the same height. So if you are looking for somthing to mature to the same height as your mare I would look at some other options. Saffy ( the two year old is on the web site under horses for sale)
 
Just to say, I really loved him. I wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home! I saw him saturday and he was probably the most genuine jumper all day. Both him and his rider were so relaxed and happy, he obviously loves his job.
 
Perphaps look a bit more at the mares breeding particularly running through the dam line.
As you well know i have some small mares and a small stallion but some have thrown a good few inches bigger than either parent as there is big blood running through the dam line.
My 15.2 poetic justice mare threw 17 hands for her first foal to a 16 hand stallion but Poetic justice was enormous.
I dont think its all about size either ,UDC i believe throws good bone so even of you got 16.1 it should have plenty of depth to take up your legs.
We have covered a huge variety of mares size with
May I and if the breeding has been small they have stayed small and if there mare has had big breeding they have thrown big.

Thankyou we are very taken with him just trying to decide when to present him to SHB .
Part of me says wait till Oct because he is racing fit but i want to show him off.
Im sure it would be insane to try in 3 weeks time as he hasnt let down yet but his movement is so stunning im really excited by him and thinking maybe i should.
 
Kerili, Uptons Deli Circus carries Clydesdale blood further back so a bit of size in more ways than one could pop up

Did you want to go to the pHSP stallion parade at Hartbury? I'm going so happy to drive if you wanted to come with me

I LOVED Uptons Deli Circus. He was really super. So honest, genuine and just loved his job.

Like someone else said he wasnt a huge mover but he just pinged over the jumps. He was a joy to watch and if I had a suitable mare I would use him in a second.

It seems the expo has really stirred things up. I was an exhibitor, and although i agree there were many teething problems some which were basic and should never have happened constructive critism is vital. The time and dedication required to run this is immense and positive critism will go further than bitchie complaints. We all need to start somehere. We hope the organiser have seen the obvious mistakes and listen to peoples opinions and lets hope for a better 2011.

The organisor cannot help the ability of riders and handlers if you wish to perform/present your stallion it is up to you to be prepared and do a good job as several people did. I agree the help in the show jumping was disasterous and thank god for the grooms that helped their riders out.

To change schedules at late notice is never good and wearing numbers should definatley happen in the future.

Breeding in england is always behind and we must work hard to promote our quality horses. Yes i do think breeders may feel let down but if we do not support these ideas and help them grow then things may never improve.

On a personal note worldwide was special in the dressage section and i think the show jumpers stole the show (well most).

Lets hope all these complaints are taken into consideration and hope for a great expo in 2011 - hopefully at more suitable venue
 
K I went to watch UDC a few years ago competing at longleat. I really did like him but he was just too chunky for our mare who is only 1/2 TB. we used a 7/8 TB stallion in the end.

Have you any others on your short list?

I tried to get my mare in foal to Mill Law 3 years ago but was unsuccsessful so I changed to Upton's Deli Circus and she caught first time. I have a lovely filly who is 19 months now as is so quiet and friendly although she can have a stubborn side occasionally but she probably gets that from mum!
I put another mare to Mill Law for my free return and she caught first time and we had a colt last year in April. He is completely different.
Circus was my second choice as he was only 15.2hh but the groom at Twemlows told him he was known for throwing begger foals. I am only 5 foot so she will be plenty big enough for me even if she is small and hopefully she will have her dads jumps so we will be at Badminton yet!
