Stallion friendly yards near Maidstone

As title says, does anyone know of a Stallion/colt friendly yard in the area?? Just researching as hopefully i will be keeping my colt ettire and at the moment he is ok at present yard but not sure what will happen when he's bigger and older lol, so just incase...

I would look at keeping him at a stud, or similar. That way you'll have all the facillities needed to keep him entire until he's gelded.

It will also be better for him to be in a youngster only turnout group - as the likely hood of bullying and serious injury will be greatly removed.
 
Thanks Amy - not sure of any studs near by?? Not planning on gelding at all so will need to be somewhere that can cope with a big 16.3 stallion lol :) He's a year in July :)

Current yard he is living out with another colt but other foal leaving in autumn after being gelded then Ron will start coming in for winter. We have had stallions on our yard before although stayed in 90% of time so unless YO has a good plan of how to enable Ron turnout etc without being near mares may have to move....:( shame as yard is great and so handy for home/work.

Then again - a stud.

Think carefully about that one..... Not much of a life for many of them, unless you are lucky enough to have your own facillities.
 
Well it all depends on how his grading goes...if it's **** then we will geld him and have done but a number of people have said he's certainly got the potential to be a great stallion and a fantastic temprement to boot so will see.

If it come to it and I couldnt keep him in the right environment then I would sell him or find someone that could have him.

I dont necessarilly think all stallions have to be cooped away or treated any differently..i know a few people who's stallions are out with geldings or next to mares and dreams to handle :)
 
I left my colt entire till he was 2 1/2 he was out with my retired gelding they were good and pushed him to the bottom and he had no clue about mares at about 2yo we only had to make sure he was not in the field next to them

Its hard though as a lot of livery yards think Stallions are dangerous x
