I have a welshi stallion currently turned out with one of my mares - they have been together quite a while now and no-one has seen any 'hanky panky' so to speak.
Well, i had the farrier on tuesday, so i brought them in, decided to put the stallion in a box thats part of a block of 3 - hes used to be stabled next to mares, stallions etc but the horses on the main yard arnt used to stallions so i thought it was best to keep him out of the way, anyway - i put a net in for him, which he wasnt bothered about and i tied my mare up outside also with a net. in the meantime, i went and sorted the other horses out for the farrier, cleaned up a wound and we got around to them having their hooves trimmed, well, as Milly was having her hooves trimmed we moved up one tying ring. the stallion got rather vocal and was very happy when she was tied back up outside his box......
i went to pay the farrier and came back to turn them out, i got my OH to lead my mare and i was taking the stallion, i went in his box to put his headcollar and and emmm, well, there was seman all over the floor by the door! theres been nothing witnessed in the field - put him in a stable with her at the other side and he gets excited!
it just made me laugh ! i'm not that bothered re if she gets pregnant or not anymore - as i decided not to cover my other mare this year as with me expecting twins next year, i might have my hands full!
