Ok, Mr Chambon and I have just had a long talk (after discussions with stud vet yesterday) and we have decided to go down the AI route this year for the first time. It completely widens the net for our stallion search...

We are looking (but can I find any at all?) for the following....

1. About 15.2hh warmblood/TB/AA - must be a dark cherry red or red liver (no black bits) and have some white on him, good bone, pref graded and proven.

2. Welsh Sec D - again must be dark cherry red with some white, good bone and depth, ideally between 14.2 - 15hh, good length of rein and not too thick in the jaw.

So far on my shortlist I have.....

Libro
Daws Firebird

and that is where my mind draws a blank!

If you can think of ANY chestnut stallions, please could you post a link on here for me?

Many thanks!

why do you want a chestnut stallion? you cant garentee coulour, and the colour doesnt make the horse.

problem is most wb are a good deal bigger than 15.2hh.

what are you trying to breed and why? perhaps i can make suggestions then.. i breed quite a lot.

You can guarentee colour with genetics, and the reason Chambon wants a red chestnut is because she breeds palominos

I need chestnut stallions to use on my cremello and palomino mares to produce palomino foals (as Weezy pointed out - thanks Weezy!).

You can guarantee colour....

Crossing a cremello to a chestnut guarantees a palomino foal 100%
Crossing a palomino to a chestnut guarantees either palomino or chestnut foal

Catherston Springsteen is lovely and the only Catherston I would consider. I also knew the father before he went too America and he was stunning.

Oh Cwmtawe is a stone throw from me!!

How about this fella!!

Abercippyn Jake
(Chestnut)
Good stock getter
Sire: Cippyn Real Magic
Dam: Scole Nelwyn

Would you consider pure Arab rather than AA?

If so I've been told (by a palomino breeder) that my boy would breed good palominos.... He's H Tobago, 15.1 (should make 15.2 at maturity - he's just turned 3). International in-hand champion but not backed yet, so might not be what you're after if you need proven performance under saddle.

Probably not what you are looking for at all, but here he is:
