I'm looking at chestnut stallions, but there doesn't appear to be many about
frown.gif

Im after one about 16 - 16.2hh, either WB or TB type with good bone, and also a reg welsh Sec D, 14.2 - 15.2hh. I prefer the cherry red type of chestnut and white markings are a must. Don't mind if they are AI only, or if natural, not too far from the south west. Temperament is paramount.

Any recommendations please?

Definatley not Londons Night Owl if you are looking for temperment..

also not sure how up to date that website is but not sure he is still around- Super_Kat will know!

Holme Grove Solomon is my babies daddy and i don't think he is standing at stud this year. However i believe his gorgeous son is. Holme Park krug is a chesnut trakehner stallion. Krug is a lovely person and moves beautifully.
Next time i buy a baby, im hoping to go for one of his babies!!
The website is : www.holmetrakehners.com

Good luck it must be so exciting stallion shopping!!

I'm pretty positive he's dead and I think our college stallion is by him (could be very wrong though) and our stallions' temperament is nice enough, you wouldn't know he's a stallion. I wouldn't say Night Owel would be on my top list though.

Personally I'd go abroard for your stallions:

WB's : Calvados, iroko or Quttro (all chestnut)
TB: Roven xx (also chestnut)

I know he's miles away (but they will do AI) and he's an Irish Draught but what about Embla Statesman? He has a fabulous temperment that he passes on and they are all useful horses, Grade A's, eventers too.

He's gorgeous, isn't he?!!!!!

I've got one in foal to him for this year, she's due in about 8 weeks.

If the foal's a cracker, she will be going straight back to him

I'm suprised Boss hasb't posted yet about Chilli Morning, he's red!!
The only other chestnuts which spring to mind are at the Nibeley Stud they have 2!

If I wre looking for a section D I would opt for Rainbow Lad, I just love him: this is a poor picture, but he's a proper cob rather than an exagerrated show cob.

If I were going to use a continental stallion and go the AI route then I would have used Londonderry for Sienna:

Bunty's dad Mooiman. Also the sire of Amandaco's foal.

Not that close to you but with AI does that really matter?
I have to admit that I didn't go to see Mooiman in the flesh but went from the website, stud DVD and even more so from other people's reccommendations on another forum.
I have to say that I am not disappointed in my foal!

Our huntsman used to hunt an Embla stallion with the RA. Can't remember his name, he was awesome (apparently). Embla St George perhaps?
Where is Embla Statesman? I want to keep in mind prospective hubbys for my girl.

Daws Firebird?

I'm going down to see him and Lostock Huntsman. DF is more liver chestnut than red though.

I'm wondering if that was Inish St George who was by Embla George; think he was down Wiltshire for a time?

E Statesman (and E Alfred, a grey by E George) stand at the Embla Stud, just outside Stafford so very easy to get to off the M6! Unfortunately, they still do not have a website but their phone number is 01785 822221 and they could send you a card with them all on.

he is stunning, have you ever used him??
what are his stock like, googled him but can't find him....

Yes, used him three times (all chesnut with white faces and socks) they've all had great temperments, are good jumpers and the one that broke its neck as a three year old was stunning, really good WH type material, probably the - or one of the best - I had bred. He and Maurice are on the short list for Bea!

He's also produced E Coachman (now Cuddly Coachman

) who was a Sue Pountain Grade A; also E Marksman, another Grade A with someone else along with loads of very decent hunters/allrounders (Robert Oliver had a youngster of his at one time, winning at County level).

They haven't a website but the number is 01785 822221.
