Stallion Showcase GB

I am just catching up with the news on GB stallion shows and I must say that it looks like an exciting month with lots to see. I'm looking forward to seing Franklyn Sugar, he looks to be an impressive boy and I am keen on Furst Heinrich offspring they have such a record of success.

It is so useful to be able to compare the stallions on the spot I find and I really like the idea that there will be progeny at this show.

Just a thought, but I wonder how strongly these shows have been promoted to continental breeders? I would have thought that there might be mare owners and breeders in Europe who could be interested in having a week's holiday over here taking in Hartpury and Addington!

Its an odd comparison, :) but sometimes the current situation as far as UK based stallions are concerned reminds me of the French attitude towards cheese .... Its taken a long time to convince (a good percentage if not all) of the French that we really do make some outstandingly good artisan cheeses in the UK. That's been done through persistent marketing campaigns, and lots of farmers markets in Calais, Dieppe, etc over the years, so the word has gradually spread.

We need to start building a similar interest in UK based stallions!

Hello! I don't know re continental breeders per se, but we live in Belgium and my daughter was only saying today that she would have loved to have gone to Hartpury. She saw the publicity for it on Eurodressage. Are these stallion events every year, and, please, where exactly is Hartpury?
Thank you

Stallion Showcase GB (SSGB) is being held for the first time this year, though hopefully it will be the first of many years to come! It is at Addington Manor - address here

Hi trakheners rock! I hope that there will be increasing numbers of people coming over from continental Europe to view stallions at both shows if they become an annual event, and as they are on following weekends there might just be the chance to do some sightseeing or stud visiting during the week! :)

Addington is taking place over two days, and there are some great showjumping and dual purpose sires being shown, amongst them Peppermill, with some top showjumpers like John Whitaker and Shane Breen bringing their own stallions. I'm also excited about the number of stallions that I've been wanting to get to view for a while, who are not necessarily regular attendees at stallion parades, who will be coming to Addington.

Hartpury is being organised by the BBSH, and like the following week's parade at Addington has an impressive list of stallions attending across the sport horse disciplines. So a feast of stallions to look forward to!

Might see you at Addington!

let's hope the viewing public do turn out to support both shows and both sets of organisers for all their hard work.

If riders of the calibre of the Whitakers, Funnells etc can be encouraged to bring their very busy competition stallions along and support an inaugural event such as SSGB, imagine how big it could be next year!

I am going on Saturday to watch (oh and help if you need any) probably go up with Lou - will be a great day though i get to see most of these stallions a lot be nice to see them shown off in a different format instead of just jumping a course x

Hi Carlo, We are very excited to be attending with Franklyn Sugar (Furst heinrich). Please come and meet us in the stables after, be lovely to meet you. Are you friends with him on Facebook?
