Stallion shows galore over the next week, its a real treat. First Hartpury, then the SSGB at Addington on the next weekend, which looks fabulous as well - I want to see those Olympian names who are coming, both riders and horses. I've never seen the Funnells demo but a friend describes it to me as so funny and entertaining so I'll want to see that and their Billy boys at the SSGB. What is my main interest is the SJ and eventer stallions and John Whitaker is bringing his stallions, I look forward to seeing the great Randi - and Peppermill, and Brendon Studs young SJ stallions who are doing so well, including Warrior and El Thuder. There are some really interesting eventer sires, not least Power Blade, Future Illusion and Revolution. I'm really going to be looking at the SJers and eventers, and as they have all of the Saturday to themselves, seems like there will be lots of time to really see the stallions perform under saddle in the arena and then in their stables. But there's Fiona Bigwood's demo and some scrummy dressage stallions on the Sunday. And - my apologies, for this is me being a wimp about January weather in the UK - its all in the warm!!

So who's going to Addington? Would be great to meet up!

We will be there all weekend - do come and say hi. We have Carousel (sire of Carousel Quest), who will actually be shown on Saturday and Sunday. Also have Marcus Aurelius, an Arab stallion who is performing with 2 of his progeny, and Samba Hit III, the Sandro Hit dressage stallion.

Looking forward to the weekend, although also have a trade stand so we are roping in everyone to work as have rather a lot to do!!

Hey, I will come and say hello to Carousel and to whoever is on your trade stand, Touchwood! Look forward to it :)

I will definitely be there and I have heard from quite a few jumper/eventer owners that they will be showing off their dressage paces on Sunday as well so we will be spoilt for choice in being able to see them strut their stuff properly. Also can't wait as all the stallions are supposedly being assigned stables so we will be able to go and meet each of them properly in the flesh.

I so wish I was able to get to Addington but I can't so I'd like to extend my thanks and admiration to both Brendon and Cruiseline for having the vision for this event and the work involved in how it should be done. I wish them every success for it, it sounds a right spectacular of an event and I'm very jealous of those able to go.
Please can we have lots of reports from those able to go for those of us who couldn't make it too?

I cannot justify travelling south two weekends running but have decided that of the two SSGB will be the better value for me, as I would have to stay overnight what ever, as too far to do each way in one day. So getting to see two days of stallions makes it more worthwhile.

I've just been looking at the list on the SSGB website, and there are so many stallions on there that you don't usually get to see close up and at stallion parades : Shane Breen riding Balloon is one I really want to see, and William Funnell on Kepi d'Elle; Stormhill Mink, just love the Stormhill guys! - Cevin Z - Valencio - its going to be a fantastic two days!

(And I sympathise, carol_mio, I don't like the cold either! But I do like the caff at Addington :) )

We'll be there on the Sunday. Stable no 26, and in the arena 1.02, just before lunch. I am rubbish at recognising people and most I only know from here and other forums, so if you see a short, round, bewildered looking woman, please say hello! :D

The timetable for the two days is now up and looks fantastic and action packed...with the Saturday starting at 10.30am and finishing at just after 7pm and then the Sunday again starting at 10.30am and finishing around 5pm, meaning that those of us with long drive's home can get a head start on the traffic!

Well, that sounds like an excuse for a celebration to me, or a cheering-up party at the SSGB! :)

Looking forward to seeing Amy Stovold's 2 stallions especially. And the guest rider in Fiona's masterclass.
By all accounts several people are staying over on the Saturday night.... See you in the bar then!!

I know lots of people prefer to see all stallions on one day but I actually like that it is over two days as it targets specifically the different spheres....thus thos interested in breeding dressage horses only can come on Sunday....eventers or SJers on Saturday, etc....rather than having to spend a whole day watching stallions when only a few are actually of interest to you. Definitely looking forward to seeing some of these before unheard of stallions like Amy Stovold's and another that REALLY interests me is Valencio as his breeding is so interesting (Corland x Calvados x Mytens XX)....not breeding one sees in the UK often!

Yes!! As you know I've been on the hunt for a stallion with Mytens XX close up, and I'm so looking forward to seeing this boy! Not had much success in getting responses from the lovely but incredibly laid back Spanish stud where I found a very nice SJer, a grandson of Mytens, so having Valencio on our doorstep is brilliant!

I'm going, it's such a wonderful opportunity to see so many top class stallions and in the warm too!
I can't justify two stallion shows as it's a long way to travel from Devon, but looking at the lists of stallions at both this showcase is more to my taste.
The stands booked look interesting and the time allocated to each stallion for display is generous, something that peeved many people at last year's Stallion Expo when the share of the limelight was apparently very unevenly distributed.
I don't think there is any real rivalry between this and the other stallion show, more a question of choose what stallions you wish to see then decide which (or both) to visit.

I can't wait, flight is booked as is hotel :D

If anyone would like to come and give the Golden Boy (Legrande) a big cuddle he will be in stable number 8. His jumping presentation will be at 11:44 on Saturday. He will also be shown on Sunday in the dressage section at 11:02, Claire will do her best to pretend she is a dressage rider for a day ;)

Please come over and say hello :) I will probably be the one in about 14 layers of clothing, I think I might find it a tad cold

I'm definetely looking forward to seeing Legrande and Archie, and it is FAB-U-LOUS that they have both got a covering in the silent auction too!

Will def be there Saturday, only drawback, got a car full of teenage girlies, who at times you need earplugs, they are so loud. I dont know about hormons running rife in the stallions, as the youngsters seem to forever be marking any young men they spot! I can see me doing a disappearing act.

oh those were the days eh?!!

See you there!

The girls have been checking out the boys (stallions) & the one that is getting a visit for sure is Legrande. Not sure if its the colour or his pic on sporthorse database, but all the youngsters are hankering after him. I just hope security is in place otherwise I can see horse rustling taking place. Mind after loosing the statue there are some impressive gates in place now.

Have just noticed further additions to the list of stallions - they must have snuck in at the last moment! - Woodlander Santana and Sforzando are coming with Carsten Sandrock! And I'm really glad that we'll also be able to see Franklyn Sugar who was booked to be at Hartpury but I think got stranded in a broken down lorry - its brilliant that he will be at Addington, and hope that the transport goes smoothly this time round!

Only just catching up with this now, as been abroad with work and flew home on leave on Friday to catch Hartpury. REALLY looking forward to seeing all those in this line-up, and it will be good to see a few again that I saw on Saturday, just to confirm or remove any doubts. Also, some fabulous "new" names that I am not familiar with - always good to broaden the choice at this early stage!
