Stallion Sizes

I have a lovely approx. 13hh mare who I am looking to put into foal next year. She is a cob x so is a bit chunky and has bred a foal when she was 4. I was wondering peoples thoughts on what size of stallion would be aright to cross her with as I'm hoping to get a slightly bigger foal out of her.

The general rule is no more than 1hh bigger. If she is quite broad then you may get away with a taller, finer stallion and the uterus size largely determines the size of the foal, but I personally wouldn’t risk putting to anything much over 14.2
