Hello
We have a lovely KWPN mare and my daughter is going to uni this year, so we want to put her in foal(the foal will then be old enough to break when she comes back). She is 7 years old and a really talented jumper, very consistent at fox/1.25 with scope to go higher, hopefully aiming at junior trials. Her breeding is voltaire, libero h on the sires side and nimmerdor, rossini on dams side. She is 16.1h, muscly and very careful jumper, but is quite a feisty thing so perhaps could do with a more laid-back stallion. Although we know that the mare will just be coming into her competition peak in the next few years, we do not want to sell the mare as it is likely we will not find something as talented as her.

We both love Arko iii, however they are only considering proving international mares.

we also liked the look of Utrillo van de Heffinck as he looked like he gives a nice ride. does anyone know anything about this stallion.. offspring, fertility etc.

two other very nice stallions are cumano and cornet oblensky.

I am very new to this, does anyone have any information about these stallions or any other stallion suggestions.

Thanks x

I am no expert but I have spent a lot of time researching jumping stallions this season as I am breeding off my mare for the first time. My mare is a KWPN with samber x olympic ferro bloodlines and also gets a bit feisty at times!!

I have choosen to go with Lord Luis from the Harthill stud he jumps 1.40 for fun and I have met him in person and he has a temprament to die for! He lives with all the other horses on the yard and is just a general gent :)

Hi a photo would be good to see what may suit better? but if you like Utrillo who looked super if not very fresh when we saw him in Hartpury, then why not look at New Priory studs new young stallion Da Vinci, same breeding but as yet unproven? also one who seems very chilled and has enormous scope and a possible future olympic horse is Don Vhp at Brendon stud?

For British horses I would echo Don VHP - truly an unstoppable boy in time to come! Also Warrior who was British produced and now sold abroad but competing in GP and selected to jump in London for the Olympics this summer for Azerbaijan - Brendons still have frozen from him and his eldest progeny are looking spectacular with several stallion prospects. Also Billy Stud boys Billy Congo and Mexico.

For foreign you couldn't go wrong with Utrillo. If you have the budget Diamant is also very sought after but not much frozen left in the UK at the moment. Cornet Obolensky is of course marketable but semen is not that great and also the market is flooded with his offspring. You would be wise I think going for a similarly bred horse like Utrillo. Check In at Bockmann is also something pretty special....loved this boy for a while now and boy does he jump!

Cornet O wont give you the ridability you are after. I really love him but you need to know what you are getting with his stock.
Be useful to see a conformation photo of her to be able to give you more ideas

Hi

We have a Voltaire mare! Noticed you described yours as fiesty. Ours can be a little bonkers although do love her - but then - 4 legs, swishy tail, bit of a given. We think maybe she will be a future broodmare and ponder over stallions. Obvs, fiesty needs calm. Big boned, calm natured powerful moving, am thinking Friesian or Irish Draft even a Cldysdale might add an interesting dimension. Look at Mr President for n example of out of the box breeding! Think long and hard. Good luck.

If you are looking for a British stallion then i'd have thought it'd be worth taking a look at Parco (he stands in Reading). Google "Parco stallion" and you will find loads of pictures and information about him. He has loads of international children - infact if you added up all the international children of all the British jumping stallions, Parco alone has more!
