Dear All

I want to breed from my section D 15.2hh mare. I'm after a sport horse 16-16.3hh preferably bay/balck.

Any one recommend / know of anywhere?

I have searched endlessly on the net / yell.com, problem is we're near Newmarket and I'm not paying £50,000!!

Thanks loads.

Off on a mission...............will be back soon.......I know there is one in the area

I'm back, have just undertaken some extensive research for you and found you three perfect stallions, two in adjoining counties and one in Norfolk - now there is no excuses!!!!!

LINDON PRINCIPAL 2558 foaled 2001 Sire: Borderfame Prince Charming Dam: Stainmore Scotch Rose

The University of Lincoln c/o Dr M Curry, Riseholme Park, Riseholme, Lincoln, LN2 2LG. TEl 01522 895440 May be available for fresh and/or chilled but not frozen semen

Have seen him in the flesh - he is stunning and laid back!

OR

THORNSETT MAJOR (2100) foaled 1980 Sire: Osberton David Dam: Osberton Gabrielle

J Morgan, Blackthorn Stud, Kennel lane, Billericay, Essex, CM12 9RR. 01277 636023

Would be closely related to my girl!!

AND IN NORFOLK

PENROSE STORMTROOPER (2520) foaled 2000 15.11/4hh Sire Knaresborough Mastermind Dam: Penrose Blossom

Emma Hitchcox, 6 Old Hall Gardens, Brooke, Norwich, Norfolk, NR15 1JZ

And in case you need telling, they are all Cleveland Bay Stallions!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I know Emma , she sold me my section D mare! I have her on the case at the moment. To non-Norfolk people we have 2 main roads out of Norfolk which are all frequented by tractors and endless roadworks. So although Essex & Linc are neighbouring they are still a 2+ hour drive from me. So rather keep it in the county

No reference to inbreding there, she is Welsh!

Anyone rate AI?

You have her on the case????

Yes - I used AI for all but the first 2 of my foals and now won't use anything else - the mare stays under my control, is happy and not stressed and doesn't have to be moved. She hardly knows what is going on if her temp. is right and means you have a much wider choice of stallions.

Have a look at the SH (GB) listing - there used to be a good stud with "HIS" stallions in Norfolk and around Newmarket you shouldnt' be short of vets able to do a good job AI.

If she's Welsh I'd definitely put her to a sports horse TB to get a sports horse type offspring.
Welsh x TB is a classic cross and 'classic' for good reason - they PERFORM !!

There is a stud in Sutton near Ely. Run my Martin Ward and his wife, they stand a range of stallions which are all HIS ie. SHB gb.

Trying to think of the stud name - hold on a min it will come to me.............
