Went showjumping today (very unsuccessfully!) and Reggie (gelding) behaved very weirdly, which only occurred when he saw a stallion that was there. Could it be possible he didn't like it because it was a stallion? Have any of yours ever done that?
We were in the warm up and every time this stallion came any where near us, Reggie sort of spun round and behaved like a right idiot! Once people running the show realised the other was a stallion she was told she couldn't ride in the collecting ring. Then when i went in the ring, we jumped well until we reached a bottom corner where this stallion was outside the arena, causing Reggie to spin around again, resulting in me falling off.
is this a feasible theory or i am just over-imagining/overreacting? I kind of know the girl riding it and she's at my pony club so rallies could be interesting but i'm sort of hoping it is this so its reasonable avoidable and not Reggie going mad!! thanks!

Personally I think it's off of the organisers to ban a well behaved stallion from the collecting ring for the sake of a gelding that's being an idiot.

There are 101 reasons your horse could have decided to react to another horse, but no particular reason why a well behaved gelding should react to a stallion. If he was a rig, perhaps - but even then his manners should stop him. Tell him off, bigtime.

It wasn't due to my horse she was asked to leave, I didn't ask them to get her to go and didn't even talk to any organisers about getting her to go..... I personally, had no impact on that decision, it would have been due to the fact that it was collecting ring full of horses and ponies and a BADLY behaving stallion which could well have breached their policies, especially with a young, fairly novice rider on board.....

We have a stallion on the yard and the first few times my gelding was ridden with him he also did this....not sure why, unless he was trying to turn round and kick at him. The stallion isn't the nicest person and will go for others! However I just pushed my horse on and he soon got over it! Trains quite happily alongside now

Unless the rules have changed, stallions are not allowed at Pony Club. I used to ride a pony stallion when I was a teenager, and couldnt take him to rallies. Ironically, he would have been far better mannered and safer than the complete hooligan of a gelding that I took instead!

You need special permission from the DC, and few will grant it (risk of other people's mares acting up is too great). We were in the same position. Saint of a stallion, vs green tearaway of a gelding :(
