I think it is a very good interactive way of studs now being able to get directly to the owners and also be able to constantly update results, etc as well as let breeders see stock by their stallions or post pictures of progeny. That said, I do not think it should take over from regular advertising methods completely.
I was thinking of making a facebook page for the stud if I can work out how. I quite like it as a way to easily see whats going on with different studs and I can then go onto their website if I want to know more detail
Oh it is lovely for stallions to have their own facebook. It keeps them fresh in the minds of potential Customers- most riders are friends with others.
Good advertising- up the minute, a great way of networking. Particularly with currently competing stallions.

Trevoulter Barton Stud have just done it -- under the name Team TBS -- and it does seem to be going well for them as they have gained over 140 registered fans in less than a week since launch
We have a web site plus link to facebook page with a stud page and I have asked the owners of Ricco foals to put there own photos on it its really good and very enjoyable way of staying in touch with the little ones as they grow up.
