I haven't done any BE since 2004, and I'm thinking of doing some this year. I was just wondering with intro's being around more now if PN has got anymore difficult?? I know people have said that when PN was introduced way back when novices got harder so was wondering if it's the same with PN??

I can't decide weather to do intro first or go strait to PN. Has anyone done Richmond or Skipton recently? They used to be quite easy PN's and I think Badge could manage if they are still the same.

sorry for my rambling! Any advise would be brill!

Is it mainly the SJ that is bigger then?

Thanks. x

ETS - I have done both but my memory doesn't seem to work very well back to three years ago!

not sure - I wouldn't have thought so. have you been doing Intro or PN?

I'm hoping my horse will be ok on time but you never know until you take them do you.

I don't think PN has changed much since '04.. i think it's alot harder than it was in '99 tho.
Also, i think intro is alot harder than it was when it first started.

The intro i did yesterday was far harder than when i did it in 02.

PN may have a few more technicals, but i think thats a good thing, for those who want to upgrade - makes the step up to novice a lot less scary and prepares you more.

Interesting to hear others think the time seems tighter, i remember going a lot slower last year and making the time easier.

But I dont think its changed much since 04

Yes I think that is a good thing, there is such a big gap between PN and Novice. Not sure if Badger can handle technical though so maybe we'll start with an intro and see how we get on with that. Only thing is a Skipton will probably be the first one and the PN was considerably easier than any others I did so I thought the Intro might be quite small.

I think the PN has become more technical and been beefed up a bit in recent years.

If you are having any doubts why not do the intro, if you do think it is quite small when you get there treat it as a gentle introduction back to the sport and go PN at your next event. Far better to have a good first run than a negative experience at PN in my view.

yea, I'm not really planning on getting placed really anyway (our dressage is a bit sub standard) so just doing it for a good XC course really.

Think i'll do an intro, He is more capable than some others i have done PN first time with but i guess if there is a easier version to do you may as well.
