Standard time to muck out

I just lift the droppings then chuck scrape all clean bed away from wet sweep then lay add clean takes about 15 minutes, I tend to turn a bank or edge each day I only have 1 bank at the back though.

I used to muck out 15 to 20 horses a day at one point when I was working at 2 yards, thats why my back is buggered now I would struggle with doing 3 or 4 a day now.
I'm already feeling sore 🤣

The variables are just so huge. I’d say try not to compare yourself to those that have been doing it ages.
Don’t panic or stress over it. We had a new girl at a yard I work on and she was apologising for having been so slow.I pointed out that even if she did 1 box to our 3 or 4 it’s one less we have to do and therefore we appreciate her! It’s just one of those things you get faster at the more you do!

I have a larger than average stable (I'd say 13 x 14 or so) , 2/3 coveted in a good few inches of shavings. Mucked out at quite a relaxed pace today and did it in 13 minutes. When I first started doing my own it took about 30 mins - god knows what I was doing! 🤣

I don't think the snow shovel method would work for me as I like my bed deep enough so that where he wees there's still dry bedding on top.

Don't suppose you got a pic? May be the same as size as the ones at the yard, I'm sh*t at measurements 😂

Oh wow thank you! I’m forever sending and re sending myself photos in the hope they will reduce in quality and size so I can post them. Or I literally resize (crop) them to make them small enough to post. I’ve never used that button before, just the ‘attach files’ button.
This is a game changer!

Once you get to know the horses if it's the same stables each time you become quicker as you know where they do what used to do 15 straw boxs in about 45 mins doing haynets as well as water maybe 1.5hours but knew the horses well

First of all did they show you how they muck out. Secondly get some good rubber gloves pick up the droppings saves time scraping around and makes things much quicker and saves bedding as well. You just need to go through with a shavings fork to get to the wet.

Yeah they've shown me how they do it. It is very straight forward and rubber gloves are such a good idea - thank you

I don't like snow shovel either I have to scrape dry shavings off to find wet patches so it would get all mixed in yuck!
