Has anyone got a standardbred? What is yours like?

I have a 13 yo, 15hh bay mare and i've had her since she was 5. She's ace, would trust her with my life.

I went to my first hunter trials last year and she was amazing, bought a lorry recently so hope to carry on with the hunter trials and do some endurance too!

Please tell me about yours

hello, I have a standardbred mare and she's amazing. i did so much with her but her best talent was for endurance, we got up to 40 mile races but she tore a ligament in her leg and wasn't up to that amount of work again. She's out on loan now and her new mummy loves her as much as I do.
She is even more special to me as I rescued her and nursed her back to health even though the vet wanted to shoot her. Had her 11 years this june and she'll be 15 this year.

Me too, i have a 5/6 year old 15hh Standardbred mare and she is gorgeous, the most lovely mahogany bay (hence the username - lol), she is also amazing.

She is quite a nervous horse and really needs a leader, but i have learn't to communicate with her and i understand her needs.

I don't know much about her background tbh, she has quite a bad scar on her nearside hind leg, i suspect she had a bit of a rough life before me. She dosen't canter easily with a rider and has the fastest trot ever.

Was doing really well with her (local shows, pleasure rides etc) until she fractured her nearside pedal bone in Sept and she is on box rest.
