I would be more than happy to buy a horse with that vetting. Considering what he is and what you want him for he is surely ticking a lot of boxes. Nice Age, nice size, realistic price and sounds likely a lovely temperament too, whats not to like. 😍 ☺️

Resting HR of 36 in the stable. Apparently he didn't lunge terribly well but wasn't naughty just obviously not used to it being a pacer more used to travelling in straight lines. He passed the trot away and flexions no problem.

They exercised him quite hard ridden, at walk, trot and canter and she said although he is clearly unfit he didn't object and had a strong workman like attitude, they got his HR up to high 80's let him rest and then it returned to low 50's after 20 mins or so which bodes well for a possible go at endurance.

She found his splint which I hadn't told her about, but said it was old and cold and of no real concern although obvs that forelimb would now be excluded if I was to insure him. She commented on his minor cosmetic scarring on lower hind limb but said it was superficial only.

Overall she said nice horse, with a good temperament and at his reasonable price a good buy for hacking, funrides and once fit low level endurance.

Thanks everyone, so I rang the owners a little while ago to let them know and they’re over the moon and have offered to drive him over as they’d like to see where he’s coming and keep in touch as he’s been in their family for 7 years (he belonged to the present owners brother beforehand )
I’m so excited and looking forward to having him Xx

In regards to going barefoot, I know all horses are individual but my mare hasn't had shoes in the 13 years I've had her and her feet are rock hard. She actually sounds shod when going on a hard surface and if the grounds wet she sounds like she has suction cups on her feet 😂

She also doesn't lunge well and in a small school or if unsure of something will revert to pacing or a tranter...I entered her for a cob/ cob type ridden showing class when she was younger and at the end the judge said she really liked her but she couldn't work out what was going on with her legs in the trot and canter 🙈
 
Congratulations! I have no clue about Standies but they (including your new one) sound lovely! I have a gaited horse and I love gaited horses in general (and Icelandics in particular). Looking forward to hearing more about him.
 
Thanks all, he really was so chilled out! He walked off the trailer after a 2 hour journey with not a bead of sweat, met the 2 boys over the fence said hello and then got his head down and started grazing! I’ve been watching him on the camera all night and he’s been eating and resting. Can’t wait to head out shortly to see him. Few days getting him used to his new surroundings then I’ll get the saddle fitter out next week. He’s very dark bay so I can’t decide between brown and black and I’m thinking a nice 17” GP style. But will be guided by the fitter.

He looks black in the photo so even if he’s technically a dark bay I would go with a black saddle. Good luck with the fitting!

She’s beautiful also, my newbie is proving delightful. He was a little discombobulated and timid for a few days but we’ve definitely bonded and he now follows me round the field like a big Labrador.
 
Things are going well, unfortunately the saddle fitter can’t make it over until next week to sort us out but that didn’t stop us getting out for a short hack round the block yesterday! My daughter legged me on and I rode him bareback for probably his first ever time and he was good perfect!

My hubby thought I was mad and we went out with my friends 80km endurance pony who hasn’t been sat on for 6 weeks and my retired cob walking behind with my daughter and honestly he was terrific. Went first, last, middle and was just so steady! I’m in love 😍
