Does anybody else's horse stand in there stables with their bum to the door facing the wall ?
I have owned my pony a year and he has ways stood in his box like this with his head down . I assumed he was just relaxed and sleeping but my friend has shown concern as he does it every day ! He is fine in himself and he likes coming in every evening to his stable he has his dinner then turns to the back of his box ???
Any ideas ? Should I be worried ?

My lad started doing this when I moved him to a different stable that had a window at the back. He now spends a lot of time with his bum to the door...but he is looking out of his rear window. Maybe yours just likes a bit of quiet time to himself??

If it's normal for him, there's nothing to worry about. I'd be more concerned by a sudden inexplicable change in behaviour!

Mine does it when she's stopped eating and there's nothing going on for her to be bothered about. It seems to be her way of resting, while she waits for you to bring her out. She's usually standing with her bum to the door when you go up in the morning and will come to the door when she hears you. If you don't feed her or get her out, especially if you move off out of sight, she will go back to facing the wall until she hears you come back. She's only in at night and has plenty of forage so I think she's just snoozing.

This is normal for him he hasn't just suddenly started doin it , other liverys have noticed as he doesn't have his head over the door and it got me thinking ! Least he's not the only one thanks guys x
