The two ladies riding along under shady trees on big brown horses wearing dark clothing, one wearing a Hadlow College T shirt... Get yourselves on EBay and buy some high viz you dozy pair! For the sake of your horses and the poor sod who will inevitably run into you one day - if not for your own sakes. I saw the car that had slowed for you, but not you and your horses until I was about 3 metres behind you. Thank goodness I'd slowed because of the other car.

Younger lady at the front with the Hadlow T shirt, riding a dark bay (I think, I can't describe how they vanished in the shade!!). Less confident lady riding behind on a big bay who looked like a lovely calm horse.

If I'd had more time I would have stopped and spoken to them, but I'd spent too much time browsing in Glover's farm shop and needed to be elsewhere. They may have been lucky, if I have my high viz to hand I sometimes grab it and flap it out the window at people! (From a safe distance of course wouldn't want to spook horses whose safety is already so severely compromised...).

My sister was wearing high viz and a woman in a car still pulled out of a side road and drove into the horse.
Lucky for Jack(the horse) and my sis that the woman was in 1st gear pulling out and didint go fast into him, he got away with a few scuffs on his legs. The woman claimed she couldnt see her!!

Lucky Jack!
I think high viz pink shows up best in these sunny conditions, where we have extreme sunlight then shade. When I see riders out it is the pink items I see first. So if possible I ride with a bit of both on.
Someone on here knows these ladies I'm sure. Someone from around the Hartley/Longfield/New Ash Green area. I'm not sure Hadlow would be interested?

I actually go to Hadlow and it's very clear from the younger bunches that hi-viz is uncool. I have to admit that i am a real ambassador for hi-viz and go out looking like a ruddy christmas tree but i'd rather that than end up with my horse smeared over the road because i wanted to look "cool".

Well, it's good to know that not everyone with a Hadlow T Shirt lacks brain cells. :-))
A shame the college couldn't give out a strong message to their students really isn't it? After all, a lot of them will be planning careers in horses, and therefore should be setting a good example.
I really hope that these riders eventually get to read this thread.

Well it doesn't look that great does it - wearing hi viz! but before I get leapt on, I too put safety over appearance and wear hi viz when out. My 2 best are 1. The winter heavy lined jacket which is a dead ringer for a police jacket. Never had ANY problems with people slowing down and 2. Full length unlined raincoat. It was mega cheap and cheerful at Olympia a couple of years ago so stays at the yard in one of my boxes. Only thing is I have to introduce it to whomever I hack out with as the horses - without exception, are not keen!

We don't have a lot of road work to do where we are but still need to wear the hi viz in the woods - always remember someone saying that a fallen rider wearing this would be easier to find..
